Moscow. The Safmar Charitable Foundation once again sponsors the Moscow Easter Festival, the milestone cultural event of the country, which is to run from April 16 to May 9. The festival is held with support of Moscow City Government, the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation and with the blessing of His Holiness Kirill, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia.
The festival programme of this year is dedicated to the 135-year birth anniversary of the great Russian composer Igor Stravinskiy. In the space of three festival weeks, the members of Mariinsky Orchestra under the baton of Valery Gergiev are planning to give the performances in more than 20 Russian cities. The biggest music forum attracts hundreds of thousands of people every year. The concert programmes range from classical masterpieces to rarely played works performed by the most distinguished musicians of our time.
Over the 16 years of its history, the musical event has become a national symbol of culture: it is a spiritual symbol as it is timed with the Bright Resurrection, it is a patriotic symbol as it is a tribute to the Great Victory, and it is also a symbol of spring, hope and renewal.
This is the third year when Safmar provides support for Easter Festival - one of its most sounding projects.
The SAFMAR Charitable Foundation, established by the prominent Russian philanthropist and businessman Mikhail Gutseriev, is one of Russia`s leading charitable organisations.
