Udmurt National Oil Company has bought by auction the Zolotaryovskoye oilfield for RUR120 million. The oilfield is found in the Kirov region on the border with Udmurtia. The news was reported Monday by Sergey Oborin, heading Privolzhsknedra’s Geology and Licensing Service of the Kirov region.
“The Zolotaryovskoye oilfield has reserves that exceed 20 million tons, and half of it can be considered as belonging to the Kirov region. For today it’s the biggest well-studied oilfield on the territory of the Kirov region. Its development will allow the possibility of increasing the local budget by 5% tax on hydrocarbons production as well as creating new jobs and developing local infrastructure,” pointed out Vitaly Perestoronin, heading the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Management Department of the region.
According to him, Udmurt Oil Company, which forms part of RussNeft, is capable of resolving the problem of developing the area, ITAR-TASS reported. But more important is the fact that the Zolotaryovskoye oilfield is becoming the basis for expanding explorations to the north-east of the region where there are several small oilfields and a number of areas showing promise of crude oil. They may become a vehicle for increasing oil production and strongly developing the north-east of the Kirov region.
